We hold many health clinics for the following conditions:

Other Services

Minor Surgery

Some joint injections can be performed following a consultation with a doctor. A practice nurse may assist the doctor with the procedure.

Breast Screening Programme.

Carried out at Seacroft Hospital. All ladies between the ages of 50 and 70 will automatically receive an invite from the Breast Screening Programme to attend.

Health Checks

If you are between 16 and 74 and have not attended a consultation or clinic in the past three years, you may request a health check from one of clinical staff. We normally offer all persons over the age of 75 an annual health check.

Cervical Smear Tests

The tests are carried out at the centre by one of our practice nurses. If you wish to find out when your next smear is due please contact reception.

Bowel Screening Tests

You automatically get a bowel screening kit just after your 60th birthday. Screening is every 2 years for all men and women aged between 60-74 who are registered with a GP  If you don't or would like to speak to somebody about this please ring on Freephone  08007076060

Child Immunisations

Child immunisation clinics are held at the Medical Centre on Thursday afternoons by the Practice Nurses..

The practice will be also be giving the shingles vaccine this year to the patients who fall into the correct category (this is determined by date of birth).  If you wish to know if you are in the group to receive the vaccine this year you can contact the surgery and we will let you know.

Family Planning 

A full family planning service is provided including the fitting of Implants.

Maternity Care

The practice offers full maternity care for expectant and nursing mothers. Antenatal clinics are usually held at the Medical Centre on Wednesdays. 

Physiotherapy

Patients requiring physiotherapy will be referred by the doctors for assessment and treatment at either the Physiotherapy or Musculo-skeletal departments at the Holywell Lane Centre, Castleford. Children will be referred to Pontefract General Infirmary, where they have paediatric physiotherapy facilities.

Chiropody

Depending on the severity of the problems, patients requiring chiropody will either be referred to the Podiatry Clinics at Airedale health centre, or will be referred for treatment with one of our nurses at the medical centre.

Lifestyle Advice

Including:

  • Help to quit smoking and dietary advice.
  • Structured Medication Reviews for patients on 9 or more medications clinic
  • Prebookable telephone appointments available with our in house practice pharmacist.

Vaccinations

Offered in the autumn of each year and we strongly recommend these for patient over 65 years old and for those who might be at risk. If you receive an invitation to attend for a vaccination please make an appointment as soon as possible because there is a considerable demand for these injections.
