There is a team of midwives who will give antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care to all pregnant women who are registered with the surgery. To make an appointment with the midwife please contact the surgery.

Community Nurses

The community nursing team is based at Castleford Health Centre and can be contacted directly (without having to telephone the surgery) by calling 01924 327591, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.  

Community nurses or district nurses visit people in their own homes or in residential care homes, providing care for patients and supporting family members. They provide holistic care for all adults refereed to the service, such as terminal care, wound care, post-operative discharge follow-ups, administering injections, undertaking CHC assessments, incontinence assessment and ear syringing. They also have a teaching role in that they work with patients to enable them to care for themselves. A vital role is also played in keeping hospital admissions to a minimum and ensuring that patients can return to their own homes as soon as possible.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. 

 

Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
